It is all about the children

My wife is mentally ill and untrustworthy.  We have three small children and I am fearful for their mental, emotional and physical safety.  My wife lies to me about how she cares for them and her parents support her.  My youngest is a boy who is now having trouble sleeping and seems afraid.  I have asked for a divorce and my wife screams at me that I will NEVER see my kids again.  Now I can protect them so I am staying in the house but I only want what is best for the children.  Please help me.

Sad in Seattle

Dear Sad,

Concerns for the children are many times upper most in the thoughts of the spouse that feels the need for a divorce.  You need to consult with an experienced law firm and develop a plan.  Then proceed and act on the plan with the help of your attorney.  Pick a law firm that knows how to keep the situation as calm as possible.  Be prepared to spend money for the legal help you need.  Dealing with a spouse that has the issues you have described is the most difficult of all divorce situations.  Your divorce will take time and cost money.  Please take action as soon as possible before more damage is done to your children.  Good luck.
